The great Allyson Felix announced this week that this would be her last season in track and field.
“I have given everything I have to running and for the first time I’m not sure if I have anything left to give,” was posted. “I want to say goodbye and thank you to the sport and people who have helped shape me the only way I know how—with one last run. This season isn’t about the time on the clock, it’s simply about joy.”
In her last season her goal is not to focus on the World Championships in Oregon in June. “That’s actually not even my goal, I just don’t know if I have the energy to try to make another team"
The 36 year US sprinter medalled at her first Olympics in 2004 and has medalled at multiple championships since. At 200 meters, Felix is the 2012 Olympic champion, a three-time world champion (2005–2009), a two-time Olympic silver medalist (2004 and 2008), and the 2011 world bronze medalist. At 400 meters, she is the 2015 world champion, 2011 world silver medalist, 2016 Olympic silver medalist, 2017 world bronze medalist, and 2020 Olympic bronze medalist.
The mom of one has recently launched her own footwear brand named Saysh and the spikes Felix has used for the last year are going to be launched very soon according to her Instagram account. The price of the spikes are unknown but there is huge anticipation on their release.
